If you’re just starting épée, this one is for you!  Beginning épéeists often wonder what the best configuration for a beginner would be, and this is it!  This 100% hand crafted épée lets you know with confidence you’re learning on the best without the costs being prohibitive.  Don’t get us wrong, though.  Although titled a “beginner’s” weapon, it won’t loose its potency as you grow in skill.

Épées are very special to us.  The study of fencing was not always as archaic and extraneous as modern times insult it for.  One would learn fencing theory on a foil because there was a real threat of armed combat with a sharpened sword either on the streets, battlefields or dueling grounds.  Épées were deadly dueling weapons, and we design and construct them with the reverence they deserve. 

The Beginner’s Épée is designed just as one would have been designed at the end of the 20^th century.  A deep épée guard provides the most protection possible without getting in the way, and a hand made 4" Φ cushioned pad sits between it and your hand.  This épée is traditionally made with an ambidextrous French, 5 & ¼ inch cord wrapped grip and two-finger leather martingale.  Certain techniques are enhanced by addition of the martingale, and it also ensures such a precious tool of survival didn’t leave the user’s hands.  A conical pommel tightens the weapon together and keeps the costs low on this introductory weapon.
