Solid Short Figure 8

The shortened figure 8 guard developed as a variation of the classic French figure 8 guard. Most likely through personal preference and time, shortened figure 8 guards were developed and can be found on many antique weapons and in antique catalogues.  This solid iteration of the shortened figure 8 guard is cost effective and impedes blades penetrating through an open ring guard.  Penetrating blades should, however, not be a problem if one is fencing properly.

All Benjamin Arms guards have a 1/4” square hole in their centers to be mounted around most foil blades. Additional filing of this hole or the tang of the blade may need to occur to ensure proper mounting.
