The Winchester

Arguably the best wood for gun stocks is walnut.  It’s hard, light, and easily to work with.  When we started offering walnut grips we had this wood’s gunsmithing history in mind.  As soon as we started coloring metals we immediately designed the Winchester Foil.  The weapon is designed for an intermediate to higher level fencer.  The short figure eight guard provides ample deflection of opposing blades, but only to a user who has learned how.  We made the Winchester with a classic French, 5 & 1/4 solid walnut hardwood grip wrapped with inlayed twisted steel wire.  A two finger steel martingale aids in control of the weapon and guarantees strength when needed.  A conical pommel tightens the weapon together without disturbing the design’s simplicity.

What’s most interesting and eye catching about the Winchester is the browned parts.  Each metal element is heat colored to a warm amber-brown.  The heat coloring process also helps protect against rust better than uncolored metal, another gunsmithing technique.

This weapon also provides a $15 discount towards a hand-made Three Weapon Bag, normally priced at $64.95 and a 15% discount towards a Practice Target!
