The name Klingenthal is said to have come from the German workers operating the forges. It’s anecdotally said that the first forge workers were Solingen defectors and named the city in their native tongue “The Valley of Blades.” Before that, most armaments were simply marked “Royal Manufacture d’Armes Alsace.”
